Although I have no reference for this, my understanding is that notebooks and laptops are exactly the same. The reason the name changed is that when some people put the laptops on their laps, they could receive burns to their legs from the heat. To discourage this (or at least so they could shed accountability), more companies started referring to them as notebooks. Other than that, the only difference truly is size....

well currently u should go for the vaio CR series notebooks they are totally awesome they are too good and they are pretty light and u can even have a 3d tour of the notebook on www.sonystyle.com well i would not advice u to go for the mac its not too good i had the macbook a while ago i really found it hard to use and it was just plain horrible and vaio CR series will not even have a price issue its only $1400 and u get more than what u pay for if ur looking for a touch screen notebook id say t...

Hi! Well I didn't really know the answer of your question but I love looking at laptops that I wish I could have... So I did some research. A few brands that kept popping up were: Dell, HP, Alienware and Apple. I suppose Acer and Toshiba got in there somewhere, but those were the main ones. Alienware does tend to get a little pricey though.
